Overview:
I own this type of lint brush in a larger format that comes in a "T" shape with the handle perpendicular to the hair/lint removal part. I love this large version and it makes it quick and easy to remove lint or hair from larger surfaces (e.g. a couch, chair, bedspread, etc.) and had wondered why someone hadn't made a smaller version that would be much more portable and easier to use on clothing. Since, in my experience, they work excellently at removing lint, hair and other similar debris as well as the fact that they always work and only require you to remove the debris from the compartment that stores it when it becomes full, it makes an ideal replacement for the sticky peel off paper lint rollers that are so common, or the reusable sticky kind of brush that requires rinsing to regain its stickiness, so what more could you ask for? With a pack of 2 (great deal btw) I can now leave one in my closet or bedroom and the other one is stored in my car for when I forget (or don't realize) that I have lint on me.
How it works:
Like it's bigger counterpart, this lint roller works by picking up debris on a surface that easily "grabs" onto things like lint, hair, and dander etc. This surface is bisected by a rubber-like fin and you are meant to run the lint brush back and forth over the area that you want to get lint and other similar debris off of. As you move it in one direction, the material that picks up the lint disappears into the interior of the lint brush until the rubber fin stops it and you would reverse directions until the fin hits the other side. When the material that picks up the lint moves back out of the inside when you reverse direction, the debris it has picked up is left behind on the inside and the same things happens on the other side as the lint brush is moved back and forth. The debris that is stored inside is easily accessed by pushing down on the back cover which opens and allows you to easily and quickly remove whatever was collected. There is quite a lot of space inside, so you can usually use the lint brush quite a few times before needing to clean out the debris. Interestingly enough, the material that attracts and traps the lint and other debris is not a new invention and is essentially a material with the fibers facing in one direction and those fibers catch debris as you move it in the opposite direction. This material is on each side of the rubber "fin" facing in the opposite direction so that as you move the lint brush/roller I one direction it catched debris, then when you move it back the material disappears inside the handle until the fin hits the side of the brush, and finally when you change change direction again the debs is combed off the material as it moves back outside.
cleaning this roller doesn’t get any easier than pushing down on the back cover, which results in a click, and the cover popping open. Inside, you will find all of the lint and other debris that it has picked up. The compartment is a good size and considering the fact that hair, lint and other debris will generally compact quite a bit, you can quite fit a lot in the backside of this roller. That being said, I generally clean it out after every water or two uses, depending on the size of the area that I just cleaned. If I cleaned a whole couch, I would probably empty it afterwards. You can tap it on a garbage can or just remove it with your fingers, but it doesn’t get any easier than that. There’s no peeling sticky paper off, tearing it in the process, frustrating you as you have to do this over and over in order to continue cleaning a rather small area.
Effectiveness:
I'm not entirely sure why there are reviews on here that state that this brush/roller doesn’t work effectively. I find it to be rather effective and it is more than adequate in aking the place of all of the disposable rollers. It is under most circumstances as effective as any of those rollers, it doesn’t require me to struggle with tearing off adhesive paper over and over until my dark clothing is clean of lint, and it never needs to be replaced which is a major selling point in my eyes, especially at this price point considering that you’re getting two.
I absolutely recommend these rollers, especially to anyone who is tired of wasting time and money on disposable lint rollers. These particular rollers are small enough to fit in a glove box or center console of your car, and just about anywhere in your home, but large enough to keep the job of cleaning quick.
